Bayer Statement on Defense Verdict in Ferro
Bayer today issued the following statement on the defense verdict in the Ferro trial:
“The jury’s unanimous verdict in favor of the company brings this trial to a successful conclusion and is consistent with the evidence in this case that Roundup™ does not cause cancer. The company won the five preceding Roundup™ trials, including the Clark, Stephens, Shelton, Johnson, and Alesi cases and, with the victory in Ferro, has prevailed in six consecutive trials.
“The jury’s conclusions are consistent with the assessments of expert regulators worldwide as well as the overwhelming evidence from four decades of scientific studies concluding that Roundup™ can be used safely and is not carcinogenic.
“While we have great sympathy for the plaintiff in this case, the jury has weighed the evidence from both sides in this case and concluded that Roundup™ is not responsible for the plaintiff’s injuries.
“We continue to stand behind the safety of Roundup™ and will confidently defend the safety of our product as well as our good faith actions in any future litigation.”
